Description
This Session is suitable for primary & Secondary teacher. And includes a copy of Kate’s Formative Assessment book (RRP £14).
Strategies, techniques and ideas come and go in education but feedback has, and will continue to be, a consistent aspect of effective teaching, learning and assessment. Feedback is not a fad but there have been plenty of feedback fads embraced or enforced in schools. Feedback should be helpful and actionable and students must engage and embrace feedback, but the reality is this does not always happen in the classroom. Students receive feedback on a daily basis, from their teachers and peers, but how do teachers ensure this feedback helps learning and not hinders it? This session hosted by Kate Jones, aims to answer this key question and provide a wide range of practical examples for the classroom.
Kate will explore a range of evidence-informed and workload friendly strategies for the classroom focusing on feedback to move learners forward. Kate examines the ingredients of effective feedback, shows what actionable feedback can look like in practice, and there is exploration of verbal feedback approaches, with advice on peer and self assessment and tips about harnessing technology to support teacher workload whilst providing helpful feedback to learners. The session is aimed at classroom teachers and leaders at all levels. It is relevant for primary and secondary teachers, across all key stages and subjects.
